Let the renovations begin!

For the new year, we (well, more me) decided to paint the front door red. It is hard to tell in this picture, but it is a subtle red color that Tim picked out. Since the entire house is gray and white, I thought it would be a nice change to have the front door red...very inviting if you ask me!

Okay, this is a "before" picture of our kitchen, specifically the area between the kitchen and the family room. Tim had been thinking for awhile about taking out this section to open it up and make both rooms look and feel bigger.

This is what that section looks like from the family room..I have always hated this section..a big piece of paneling that is awkward to decorate.

This is what is looks like now, after we took out that section of cabinets...totally awesome!

The view from the kitchen now..

It made the kitchen so much brighter because of all of the light coming in from the french doors in the family room. We now have to do some finish work on this section and add lights and then relocate the cabinets we took down to the other side of the kitchen. We will have to have the cabinets cut down to re-size them a bit and build a bulk head on which to mount them, but when completed, it is going to look amazing!
