Vacation...

This year we at the Elgin household had a vacation-palooza! Not just one destination, but count em', 4 destinations! We went camping at Shawnee, a Pirate's game, the Pittsburgh Zoo, and Hershey Park. We had such a great time at each place. Shawnee was cool and relaxing. I love that we have no agenda, no schedule that must be followed, just do what we want to do!
The Pirate game was super hot..I mean really hot! We had awesome seats right down the 3rd base line, about 8 rows up, but Ava and I only stayed for about 2 innings...she was way too hot. So the girls headed up under the stadium for some shade. The boys soon joined us and one of the ushers gave us wonderful seats in the shade, bless him. Prior to the game, Andy was standing out by the left field wall and one of the players from the Rockies threw a ball to him during warm-ups, so he was happy. After the game the kids got to run the bases. On our way out, Zach Duke was spotted and Andy went up to him and told him it was his birthday (true enough!) and could he please sign his ball? So Zach signed it and I got a great picture of the two of them..bonus!!!
The zoo was great, we got there early so it wasn't too crowded and also not too hot. The kids loved all of the animals. We especially loved the polar bear exhibit that took you under the water! We actually got to see the bear in the water from underneath and it was amazing. He had large floatie toys and rings that he really played with, just like a kid!!
Later in the week we headed out to Hershey Park for 2 days. Thursday started out ok, but then we got rained out..so we hit their zoo and the chocolate factory. The kids at least got to swim and sit in the hot tub back at the hotel. Friday morning started out raining, so we headed to the Harley Davidson plant in York and the boys went on the tour. Next we hit Bass Pro Shop to look for camping supplies. The weather cleared a bit and we headed back to Hershey. We had sooo much fun..Andy rode some level 5 roller coasters (1 is kiddie rides, up to 5 which are "extreme") so we were very proud of him. Tim and I each got to ride the Super Duper Looper with him, and Andy rode the Wild Mouse, and Wild Cat with Daddy. Ava loved the Ferris Wheel and carousel.
We had a wonderful, unforgettable vacation!!
